The District of Gauteng and Surrounds Best of the Best competition was held at Goldfields Kennel Club on 26 November 2011. Dogs have to be resident in Gauteng, North-West Province, Mpumalanga and Limpopo and qualify by winning points for group placings at championship shows during the year. Once all the points are calculated, the top 120 dogs are invited to enter and participate, and two judges and a referee select 32 finalists who are then judged against each other in a knock-out competition. Puppies are judged separately in a similar competition.
Judges for 2011 were Gael Morison, Les Morison and Michele Colborne.
