Appearance

Medium-sized dog, low-slung, well-ribbed, large pugnacious head. 

Weight

Average weight:  Dogs:  25kg

                          Bitches:  23kg
Coat Colour

Brindles, reds, fawns, white and pied.

Coat Texture Short, close and smooth

Grooming

Minimum - daily brushing to remove any loose hair.  Bath when required.

Personality/Temperament Friendly disposition.  

Compatibility with other dogs

Good.
Compatibility with cats and other animals Good.

Compatibility with people/children

Very good.

Living Space – Indoors/Outdoors

Suitable for cluster and townhouses; indoor dogs that love being with their human companions. 

Space and Exercise

Minimal space required – clusters and townhouses are just as suitable as larger homes.

Noise Factor

Quiet breed, not noisy.
Average Lifespan
Approx. 7 years.
Feeding Feed a good quality dog food, and follow manufacturers recommendations for age and weight.  Some manufacturers have developed food particularly designed for Bulldogs and their special needs.

Health

Approach only reputable breeders who take care to ensure they breed from healthy stock.
Availability Enquire via the various Clubs for reputable breeders and healthy puppies. Due to popularity of the breed, a lot of indiscriminate breeding is taking place.  Be prepared to wait for well-bred puppies! 
Some questions to ask Breeders Ask to see mother and if possible, father of the litter. Are the puppies registered with KUSA; are they de-wormed and vaccinated, are there any health problems in the breeding lines..
